Okay look, I won’t act like I never encountered bully problems, in fact, I was one of the main victims at my old middle school that I attended.
At the time, my family was struggling finacially, so I couldn’t afford to have Abercrombie clothes, Nike shoes, or even a decent cell phone! I went to a middle school that was run by the wealthy. They would pick on anyone that they thought was “inferior” to them to raise their self-esteem. Anyways, every day in 4th block, last class of the day, this guy named Ethan would pick on me because my haircut wasn’t “popular”…ok Imma be honest, it was basically a mullet. But at the time, it was either that or buzzcut, and I wanted to have the hair that girls would wanna run their hands through!
He would mess with me and get the whole class laughing at me, eventually it became physical and he started to use his running back football skills to move me out of the way when walking by…basically push me into stuff. This really stressed me out and made me hate myself.
Then I discovered Brazilian Jiu Jitsu…
I saved up all of the money I could find and got a job at the local Taco Bell to afford cheap classes at a dojo an hour away!!
It raised my confidence knowing that if he were to mess with me again, I could just choke him out. But then I realized, he picked on me to make himself feel better. He was a bully because someone bullied him.
I was better than that. I refused to stoop to his level. Knowing that I COULD beat him up, helped me realize that I didn’t NEED to. Now when he pushed me again, I sternly advised him to watch his self and of course he made his comments, “oh okay because you will actually do something about it!! hahahaha”…but the funny part is, he never did it again.
Why do you think this is? Because he was scared. He bullies because he is scared.
So just by gaining confidence in myself, I was able to get rid of my bully problem. All you have to do is stand your ground, You may get hit or pushed around, but the more you stand your ground, the less bullies will try and mess with you. They want an easy victim. Either stand your ground for a few times, or keep getting picked on and bullied for a few more years. Your choice.
Just remember, fighting is 90% mental, 10% physical.
Mind games will destroy your opponent before the fists fly!
